Janicka Newbill
In the heart of Camden, NJ there is one woman, who since the age of six, has performed songs along the southern and eastern coasts of the U.S. A woman who above all else ministers the word of God through music; A woman whose name is destined to be great, known only to the world as Janicka Newbill. To see her live in concert is an unforgettable spiritual experience with vocal sounds that remind the listener of Denise Williams’ vibrato and Minnie Riperton’s vocal range all at the same time. Janicka has always known of and appreciated her gift. Though it wasn’t until 1995, when she rededicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that she realized her singing would be a ministry irrevocably dedicated to magnifying and glorifying God.
Janicka has allowed God to use and expose her in ways many artists only dream of. In October 2006, Janicka’s voice secured a spot as a semi-finalist for the renowned Gospel F.O.C.U.S. competition sponsored by Lexi and the Word Network. After three rounds of competition, she was among the top 28 contestants to vie for a finalist position. To her credit, Janicka was one of 500 contestants selected out of 20,000 entries for the Gospel Dream 2003 competition sponsored by Bishop Paul S. Morton and Tehillah Records. She has performed as a featured soloist on the stage of the Susquehanna Bank Center (Camden, NJ), and the Camden Mayoral Inaugurations. Her membership as an Unlimited Praise vocalist flourished as a songwriter and soloist on the acclaimed Bubby Fann album “Judah Prayze”. Not to mention having shared the stage with Gospel recording artists such as Bobby Jones, Vickie Winans, Trinitee 5:7, Virtue, William Becton, Kenton Rogers, John Gray, Canton Jones, Martha Munizzi, Byron Cage, TaMyya J, The Potter’s House’s Worship Leader John Murray, and Philly’s own Hersey Lee Coles. Janicka has been blessed to perform in supporting choirs for Contemporary Christian artists such as Integrity’s Don Moen, Lenny LeBlanc, Paul Baloche, LeAnn Albrecht, David Watts and Pop/R&B vocalist Mariah Carey.
Janicka’s debut CD entitled, “Endure” solidifies her calling as a Psalmist and defines her ministry as one of Camden, NJ’s artist spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. In six months of her independent CD release, over 1,500 copies had been sold and this was solely due to performance ministry opportunities. The Endure project was selected out of 1,100 entries as a Discmakers IMWS Northeast 2006 semi-finalist. Currently, her newest release hit, “Fight On!” is a feature song on Gospel USA Magazine’s Artist Favorites Volume 4. Standing on the words of Psalms 57:7, “My Heart is Fixed, O God, My Heart is Fixed: I will Sing and Give Praises”, impossibilities become possible and limits become endlessness. Janicka affirms that wherever her Abba Father leads her, she will follow.
